Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Gastroenterologist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. The ideal candidate should be committed to delivering high-quality patient care, utilizing evidence-based practices, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract and digestive system.
- Evaluate patients through medical history, physical examinations, laboratory investigations, and diagnostic imaging.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.
- Manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases, peptic ulcer disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, and pancreatitis.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
- Prescribe medications and recommend dietary and lifestyle modifications.
- Provide preventive care and educate patients on digestive health and disease prevention.
- Coordinate care with surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals when required.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education activities.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- DM, MD, DNB, or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Gastroenterology.
- Valid medical license or eligibility for licensing in Oman.
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialization clinical experience preferred.
- Proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Preferred Skills
- Expertise in upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.
- Experience in managing liver diseases, gastrointestinal emergencies, and inflammatory bowel disease.
- Knowledge of advanced endoscopic procedures is an advantage.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and continuous professional development.
